More on Muppets

As we move towards a December 2011 release of The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made more details are being released about the movie and the casting. Most recently Alan Arkin and Michael Cera have been names that have circulated with this new Muppet Movie. If rumors turn out to be correct Michael Cera could end up being Walter, a puppet who has dreams of becoming a Muppet someday. As for Alan Arkin, there is talk that he could be a tour guide for the old Muppet Theater.
The story will involve [Read More]

Muppet News Flash: The Muppets Kitchen

Yesterday, Disney released a Muppets News Flash with new exciting news for anyone who is a fan of The Muppets and/or Iron Chef Cat Cora from the Food Network.  Here it is:

So what do you think of The Muppets Kitchen? I’m personally quite excited for this! I am looking forward to new details. I’m not sure what I think about having a new Muppet top chef that isn’t the Swedish Chef. The Swedish Chef has always been one of my absolute favorite characters. I hope this doesn’t mean that he [Read More]

Goodbye Muppet Cavalcade

Last night Kermit, Miss Piggy, Sweetums, and a bunch of friends made their way up Main Street and the parade route for the last time. As a part of the Year of Volunteering, they have been honoring volunteers daily for their service. This will be no more. For many of us Muppet fans, this was a dream come true. Kermit the Frog doesn’t make a lot of appearances so being able to see him in the cavalcade really was an amazing thing.
Kermit and crew have always been about friendship and [Read More]

Swedish Chef’s Uncle

Did you know that the Swedish Chef had an uncle? It’s true! He showed up on The Muppet Show once to help the Swedish Chef prepare a turkey. Being a fan of both the Swedish Chef and Danny Kaye, I have always enjoyed this sketch. Hope you do as well!

Make it a GREAT day!

Kermit Goes Home

Did you know that Kermit the Frog was originally from Washington D.C.?  I know, you thought he was from the swamp where he sang Rainbow Connection.  Perhaps he was, but he did make his first television appearance in Washington D.C. on Washington’s WRC-TV in 1955 on Sam and Friends. 55 years later, Kermit has found a permanent home there. Jane Henson, Jim Henson’s widow, has donated the original Kermit puppet along with 9 other puppets from the original Sam and Friends television show to Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.

One of my Favorite Muppet Sketches

One of my absolute favorite Muppet Show sketches involves Rowlf the Dog and Fozzy Bear playing a duet on the piano. I don’t know if this because I’m a piano player as well or if because they are some of my favorite characters. So with that… Can you play hatless?
Hope you enjoy!

Pixar and Muppets

If you have been following Disney news at all lately then you probably know that many of the principles of the upcoming Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made flew up to Emeryville on Wednesday for a reading of the project with members o the “Pixar Brain Trust.”  This seems to be a more recent trend since Rich Ross took over the Walt Disney Studios. This was also reportedly done with Tron: Legacy. It seems that Rich Ross understands that unless you have a good story to tell, you aren’t going to [Read More]

A Muppet 4th of July! – The Swedish Chef and Sam the American Eagle

What is more American than the Muppets when celebrating the 4th of July? Of course on this 4th of July the folks over at Muppet Studios have released another video for us to enjoy. And what could be more American than the Swedish Chef making popcorn shrimp right?  The video was actually released on July 2nd but I’m coupling it with a more patriotic Muppet video. Hope you enjoy!
Make it a GREAT day!

Uncle Deadly Confirmed for The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made

Nick Stoller, co-writer with Jason Segal for The Greatest Muppet Movie Every Made has confirmed that Uncle Deadly will be included in the cast. His inclusion was an idea of the movie’s director James Bobin. Uncle Deadly is a lizard/dragon looking Muppet that also is known as the Phantom of The Muppet Show. He made his first appearance in an episode of The Muppet Show with Vincent Price. A couple of episodes later fans really got to know him  when various cast members of The Muppet Show kept insisting to [Read More]
