Happy Star Wars Day everyone! I hope this finds everyone celebrating all the awesomeness that is Star Wars! Today, I thought I’d share one of the many Star Wars themed pictures I have taken through the years. Seeing that we have a few of the Star Wars characters around in Tomorrowland at Disneyland this isn’t the hardest thing to find. Picking just one however, was much more difficult. I decided upon Darth Vader though. I remember being so scared of him as a child. I also remember the first time [Read More]

It is done. Our first episode of Geeks Corner, the online show, is now online for your enjoyment! At least, we hope you will enjoy it! I’m joined by my friend Johnny 5 as we talk about random things that have been showing up on Geeks Corner or other geeky places that we have been keeping our eyes on. We’ll include a bit of commentary and maybe even a bit of comedy…think Fozzy Bear… and hopefully you enjoy this! We’ll also have special guests joining us on the porch (yes, [Read More]
On Tuesday it was announced that the rumors are true. Star Wars is going 3D. Coming in February 2012 Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace will be released with the 3D treatment. If that does well enough, Episode II will be released the following year followed every year after by the next movie in the series. This is not set in stone however and dates could be moved around. The release date in February 2012 for Phantom Menace isn’t even set currently. It will all depend on marketing it [Read More]
A lot was going on at the Disneyland Resort this weekend, most involved D23 and the Destination D event. One of the things that definitely got my attention was the unveiling of some details about Star Tours. For years it had been rumored that Star Tours was going to be updated and it seems like everyone had ideas for what they’d like to see on an updated Star Tours. Now after years of dreaming, speculating, and wondering, we are close to seeing what the people who have power came up [Read More]
You may or may not realize this but John Williams wasn’t the guy who came in and arranged the music for Star Tours. A guy named Richard Bellis was actually the guy who pulled together the music and arranged it for the original Star Tours. There is an amazing interview with Bellis over at the Endor Express if you want to read more about him and some of his history working musically in the Disney Theme Parks. Part of the interview focuses on his work on Star Tours and Indiana [Read More]
Over at the Disney Parks Blog they have posted a new video for the return of Star Tours. It is formatted as a travel advertisement for Star Tours. It actually is rather clever and well done. It reminds me much of the video that used to be played in the entrance queue for Star Tours before it was closed. According to the Disney Parks Blog, this video will be showed in place of the old one in the queue. This video was shown at Star Wars Celebration V. The Disney [Read More]
There are a lot of different art shows to be found. It seems like I hear about one being held at least once a month. Recently, I heard about a different type of art show though. Just the name captured my attention, the Vader Project. Dov Kelemer and Sarah Jo Marks, who run distributor DKE Toys, came up with the idea for this project in 2005. They acquired 100 Darth Vader prop replicas of the helmet and then contacted a bunch of artists. Within a couple of years, the Vader [Read More]
My friend Britt Dietz was down at Comic Con last week and wrote an excellent post about it for his blog. His blog also includes some pretty amazing photos from the whole thing. The part that really captured my attention was the photos of zombies and princesses. There is one picture that looks like a zombie has a broken back! There are also some pretty cool Star Wars pictures as well.
Britt’s blog is called Musings of an Aviation Photographer and really is worth checking out. You can read his post [Read More]
Do a quick google search on the best movies ever and you’ll find a ton of websites dedicated to choosing and ranking the best movies ever made. While they each have their own slant and choices for the greatest movies, thankfully there is a general consensus about which movies should make that list. Consistently movies like Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Casablanca, The Wizard of Oz, and Lawrence of Arabia show up near the top of these lists. A couple of animated even made it on the American Film Institute’s list. [Read More]
