The Hobbit Press Conference

Things are moving ahead at full speed for the upcoming The Hobbit movies.  Recently, several of the main cast members made some appearances before the press in New Zealand. Thankfully, someone had the good sense to record them and share them with the world so I can share them with you. While this really doesn’t give us anything new to drool over in terms of information, it is still fun to see how things are progressing. I hope you enjoy these videos! What do you think of them?

The Return of Saruman

Up until today, I had no clue who would be playing the role of Saruman. Previously it had been reported that Christopher Lee felt he wasn’t up to the trip to New Zealand to reprise the role. It seems that since Peter Jackson has returned to the directors chair, a lot of things have changed. Peter Jackson has done a phenomenal job at bringing back the major players from The Lord of the Rings as he pulls together the cast for The Hobbit. Providing he is in good health, the [Read More]

The Hobbit Casting Call

This is scanned from a newspaper in New Zealand and is the casting call for people to be in The Hobbit! So, if you are going to be around on Wednesday and fit the requirements…. audition for a chance to be in The Hobbit! Wish I could zip down to New Zealand and do this! Anybody know anyone who is attempting this?
Make it a GREAT day!

New Zealand Parliament Passes Hobbit Bill

It looks like The Hobbit WILL be filming next year in New Zealand and not any of the other rumored possibilities. Here is an article on how this was done from TVNZ.
Parliament has passed the government’s new law to clarify the position of contractors within the film industry.
MPs have voted 66 to 50 in favour of the law, which is part of the deal brokered with movie producer Warner Brothers earlier this week to keep production of The Hobbit in New Zealand.
This was that the Employment Relations Act would be [Read More]

The Hobbit Has a Cast

Things seem to be moving forward with The Hobbit. Over the weekend there were  rallies in New Zealand in support of The Hobbit filming there and it seems that things seem to be settling down in favor of The Hobbit.  As I mentioned before, the film has now been officially greenlit, Peter Jackson is directing, and today I’m pleased to announce that the cast is shaping up. I’m going to share with you what we have as far as a cast for The Hobbit in pictures just so you can [Read More]

The Hobbit Finally Gets the Greenlight

It’s finally happened, The Hobbit is officially becoming a movie (well really two movies) and has gotten the much needed greenlight that fans have been waiting for. Here is what the LA Times had to say on the matter:
It’s taken a long time — longer than it takes most movies to be shot, released and come out on DVD  — but “The Hobbit” is now a real film. A pair of them.
After being widely known for weeks that a deal for to finance the Peter Jackson-directed 3-D franchise was coming [Read More]

Peter Jackson Officially in Director’s Chair for The Hobbit

It is official, Peter Jackson IS directing The Hobbit and can I just say YAY!?!?!? I have thought since day one when this project was announced, that he should be the one in the director’s chair and now he is. Thank goodness. The New York Times did a nice blog on it and seeing as I’m incredibly busy today and already posted about Rapunzel coming to Disneyland, I’m just going to share that with you. Are you as excited about this as I am?
Make it a GREAT day!

The Hobbit on the Move?

There has been quite a bit going on in Middle Earth the last few weeks. Some of this has been good, some of it not so much. Needless to say, things have been moving for The Hobbit.  Here are some of the highlights of what is going on in Middle Earth.
Actor Boycott of Hobbit
Yes it is true, an Australian trade union called the MEAA is encouraging actors to boycott The Hobbit. They are doing this in an effort to force the producers into a collective bargaining agreement. However, by the [Read More]

Peter Jackson to Direct The Hobbit?

It’s all over the news, Peter Jackson could be returning to Middle Earth as the director. I, for one, really hope this is what ends up happening! He has the commitment, drive, and energy to get the job done right.  Multiple sources have been reporting about Jackson being in negotiations and a couple have said it is already a done deal. For now though, I think it is probably safer to stick with hard news. It looks like he is for sure in negotiations to direct and that it isn’t a [Read More]
