Happy Birthday Disney California Adventure

Disney California Adventure (DCA) turns ten today. I wrote the following article for DAPs Magic Disney News this morning with a bit of a history of the park. Take a look at it and following it, I’ll write my own personal comments on the park. Let me know what you think of DCA both then and now.
Ten years ago Michael Eisner, Mickey Mouse, and more were present for the opening of the second gate at the Disneyland Resort. Disney’s California Adventure opened its gates for the first time ten years [Read More]

A Busy Sunday

Sunday was really a busy day at Disneyland. No, there weren’t a ton of people there. The morning rain and occasional drizzle throughout the day took care of that. Family Fun Days weren’t so fun as the third day of Character Fan Days were cut short. You can see pictures here though of them from Friday.
Sunday was busy as there was just a lot going on. A wonderful lady who loves to listen to Ragtime Robert at the piano turned 100 and was at the park to celebrate her birthday. [Read More]

Another Rainy Day at Disneyland

On Sunday I enjoyed a very wet and cold day at Disneyland. As I was sitting at Coke Corner listening to Ragtime Robert I thought it’d be kind of fun to wander around a bit of the park and take some photos. Of course it was raining so I didn’t have my nice camera. I did have a little point and shoot camera in my pocket but for some reason I didn’t pull it out. I instead used my phone and took photos with it as I wandered. Then I [Read More]

Time for Change

Things continue to change at the Disneyland Resort. Starting tomorrow there will be some very obvious changes to anyone who visits.
Let’s start with the cosmetics. Those big letters in front of Disney California Adventure (DCA), that people go and get their pictures with, will be going the way of the Dodo bird. Guests arriving at DCA tomorrow will quickly realize that things are different and the letters no longer available. With this will begin the changes to the main gate at DCA as well.  This will be bittersweet as the [Read More]

Ringing in the New Year at Disneyland

If you have ever spent New Years Eve at Disneyland, you know that it is quite the place to be! For some, this is awesome. Others aren’t quite so enthusiastic about the mayhem. If you have never done it before, you really should at least once…even if it is just so you can say you’ve done it! Just be aware of a few things  before you make the trek. It will be INSANELY busy. It is one of the busiest days/nights of the year! Take everything I wrote in the [Read More]

Surviving Disneyland When Busy

The week between Christmas and New Years is always a busy week at Disneyland. Busy perhaps is an understatement. Those who visit during this week often find themselves caught in a struggle to simply survive rather than having the wonderful and magical time that should be having!  Here are a few tips to keep your visit to the happiest place on earth, happy!
Be Prepared – Wear shoes that are comfortable. Plan on staying in the park for the duration of the day so either carry a backpack or rent a [Read More]

Goodbye Maliboomer

Today we say goodbye to the Maliboomer. For the last ten years it has been shooting screaming people into the sky above Disney California Adventure. It is a “Space Shot” attraction that is manufactured by S&S Power. It shoots people rapidly into the air with compressed air and then they bounce back down to earth on a cushions of air. For Disney California Adventure, the Maliboomer was meant to mimic the “high striker” games found at many boardwalks or carnivals. These were the games where someone would use a hammer [Read More]

Rapunzel’s New Home at Disneyland Will Be…

Rapunzel’s new home in Disneyland will be in Fantasyland! What a surprise. Ok, not really, but that is where it is going to be. Artwork released by the Disney Parks Blog this morning show exactly where she will be living upon her arrival at the original Magic Kingdom.  She will be joined by Flynn Rider. I think it is actually a really nice fit for her. I can’t wait to see how it turns out in real life as opposed to a photo overlayed with some digital art. As you [Read More]
