The End of the Road
Route 66 has become the end of the road for many people who set out along this historic road to pursue the American dream. Driving down Route 66, it is impossible to not notice how many former businesses have reached the end of their road. They sit deserted and often falling apart. Some of these places look like people just walked away one day. The building was just left to age and fall apart. It really brought new perspective to me about the Disney-Pixar movie Cars. At one point a couple of tourists come through town and everyone jumps on them… just hoping they will stay and maybe just use ONE of their services… Seeing that scene before I intellectually understood it. After driving Route 66, it now connects at a much deeper level. That was a moment of desperation… that desperate hope for survival. This business clearly didn’t survive… Even in death though, there is some element of beauty. What do you think?
Make it a GREAT day!
