Grand Canyon Caribou

After years of riding the Disneyland Railroad and seeing a beautiful painting of the Grand Canyon, last year I was able to experience this amazing place in person. Of course seeing the canyon itself was absolutely amazing but there were other awesome things to be found. There were beautiful plants, clouds, and ANIMALS! One type of animal we found was caribou. Outside of a zoo, this is one animal I’d never seen in the wild before. There was a whole herd of them we just happened upon so I whipped out my camera and started snapping.

I took this photo with my telephoto lens as it really wasn’t THAT close. I wouldn’t want to be that close to a wild animal anyway. They need their space and we definitely were intruding on their home. This one was nibbling away at the tree and just enjoying watching people walk by as he ate. Actually, as I write this I am realizing that is quite often what I do at Starbucks as well. The amazing part was that there were quite a few people walking by. Most of them didn’t even notice the caribou. It really was a fun experience and I definitely want to return to the Grand Canyon again someday. There is so much to do and see there!
