An Update on The Hobbit

Written By: Mr. DAPs on April 7, 2011 No Comment

There has been a TON going on in the world of The Hobbit and it is really exciting to see it all develop! There isn’t one subject or topic area for The Hobbit that I’m going to cover today so instead, I’m going to give you bullet points about all the developments! So, buckle your seat belts and off we’ll go to Hobbiton!

  • Howard Shore has had his first meeting with Peter Jackson about the soundtrack of The Hobbit. It will be interesting to hear how Shore tells the story with music. Some of the locations of the story will be locations found in The Lord of the Rings as well. Does this mean we’ll be hearing some familiar musical themes in The Hobbit? Here’s hoping!
  • Bret McKenzie will be playing Lindir. This is the elf of Rivendell who loves Bilbo’s song so much that he asks to hear it again.
  • Andy Serkis to serve as Second Unit Director for The Hobbit along with reprising his role as Gollum. “I think I understand Peter’s sensibility and we have a common history of understanding Middle Earth,” Serkis told The Hollywood Reporter. “A lot of the crew from The Lord of the Rings was returning to work on The Hobbit. There is really a sense of Peter wanting people around him who totally understand the material and the work ethic.
  • The Hobbit will be filmed at 48 fps. So what, you ask? This will enhance the clarity and reduce strobing even more so. This should be incredibly helpful especially with the 3D presentation. James Cameron commented on the technology saying, “If watching a 3D movie is like looking through a window, then [with this] we’ve taken the glass out of the window and we’re staring at reality.” I can’t wait to see this!
  • Orlando Bloom is indeed back for The Hobbit. When asked if he was returning he answered, “Yeah, it’s looking like that. I’m really excited about going to see Pete [Jackson] again. It’s still a little up in the air, but the idea of working with Pete is fantastic. I can’t actually really talk too much about it, at this point. I just was given the script to piece through, so it’s quite exciting.”

Ok, so that is brief look at the random world of The Hobbit. Hope you enjoyed this quick update. I’ll be posting more as I find more stuff out!

Make it a GREAT day!
