Hidden Treasures of Disneyland
There are quite a few hidden treasures at the Disneyland Resort. These are just those little magical places that most people just walk on by without really paying attention to. However, if they were to stop and check these things out they would find a beautiful location or moment of Disney magic. Some of these treasures are bigger than others. Some of them have been made to be intentionally magical and others provide magic just by existing. They really aren’t that hidden but more accurately they are quite often just simply overlooked. In my new series, Hidden Treasures of Disneyland, I will go through some of my favorites so that you can enjoy them with me!
My first Hidden Treasure of Disneyland today isn’t so hidden at all. People pass by it all the time and probably don’t think anything of it. Sleeping Beauty Castle has several ways for guests to travel through it into Fantasyland. There is the most obvious way; directly across the drawbridge and through the middle of the castle. Off to the right you can go past the wishing well to the music of Snow White. On the left there are several bridges that lead to a pathway that also ends up going through the castle. For my first hidden treasures, I have chosen these bridges. They are a beautiful little section of the park. Recently Disneyland redid all of the gardens around them and made them even more beautiful. Also after a several year hiatus, princesses can be found meeting with guests there now.
The first time I saw the princesses return here was in August when I found Ariel meeting with her friends. As I watched they looked into the waters below to see if Flounder, Sebastian, or any of her other underwater friends were visiting. I’m not sure what they found.
Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother, Mary Poppins, Bert, and the penguins can often be found in this area as well. In fact on my birthday, Bert and I were joined by Mary and the penguins as we went fishing from one of these bridges. It was one of the highlights of the day! In the evening it is a beautiful place to take pictures of the castle or just a quiet place in the park to enjoy magical atmosphere that only Disney can offer.
Is this the most flashy place to be found at Disneyland? Probably not. It is simple, beautiful, and that is what makes it wonderful. Not everything needs to be flashy and interactive to be magical. Just by being close to Sleeping Beauty Castle and having a wonderful atmosphere, it is a hidden treasure of Disneyland. I hope you can enjoy it sometime in the near future! Make it a GREAT day!
